OUR MISSION
The power of public art
Engaging with and responding to public art has the ability to support mental health and wellbeing. Public art invites all members of our community to experience its benefits without the intimidation or limited access of formal galleries.
It tells the stories of us as a community, and is a resource for us as a community. Arts4Wokingham believes art, in any media, has the power to shape and transform lives. Societal and personal opportunities can grow from the ability to experience creativity through the arts.
The future of the Borough
For these reasons, we want to see public art considered as a vital part of all new developments across Wokingham Borough. Beginning with The Arc, our own project in Wokingham town, we wish to inspire and enable towns and communities across the borough to launch their own public art project.
Arts4Wokingham is committed to facilitating community groups with practical support and guidance for arts projects. These works will be part of a borough wide portfolio of public art and a legacy which we aim to build over the next 100 years.

The power of art
Since the earliest forms of art, people have celebrated and appreciated its ability to reveal significant aspects of our culture, attitudes, and way of life. We believe this is crucial for building stronger communities and promoting social welfare.
-
Involving communities
Art should not be exclusive or elitist. We strive to promote public art by engaging with those from all different groups within our community who may feel intimidated or have limited access to galleries, museums, and performance venues.
-
Wellbeing benefits
The nourishment of the mind is just as crucial as that of the body. A well-balanced visual diet not only enhances physical health, but also contributes to mental wellbeing. Art has been widely acknowledged for its healing qualities in promoting wellness.

Enriching young minds
We aim to challenge the diminishing status and recognition given to arts in school curriculums. We believe that young minds shouldn’t be deprived of the benefits that arise from creative involvement, or even exposure to the arts in general.
Because we believe public art should be for everyone.
