The Wokingham Society Pledges Its Support
Arts4Wokingham is delighted to have received support and a pledge for significant funding from The Wokingham Society. This marks a welcome endorsement of Arts4Wokingham’s current project, the commissioning of a landmark work of art to be located outside Wokingham’s new arts and leisure complex, The Carnival Hub.
For over fifty years The Wokingham Society has fought tirelessly to help preserve many of the town’s historical features and has strived to ensure that any development has been sensitive to the town’s heritage.
Chairman of The Wokingham Society, Peter Must, sees the pursuit of a work of art to hallmark the Carnival Hub site as a clear opportunity for The Wokingham Society to look forward and help to shape and define a feature of the town that will act as a distinctive beacon for many years to come.
‘The trustees of the Wokingham Society have great pleasure in helping to sponsor what will be the first major work of public art in the town for over 20 years. As an organisation that champions Wokingham’s heritage we seek not only to cherish its past but to champion what we hope will be lasting contributions to its future. We look forward eagerly to seeing the sculpture commissioned to occupy a key position in the location being developed as the town’s arts and leisure hub’.
Arts4Wokingham is most grateful to have received The Wokingham Society’s very generous financial pledge and looks forward to its ongoing involvement and support.
