Charity Gala Screening
Mia Farrow in Wokingham!
‘See No Evil’ aka ‘Blind Terror’
Sponsored by Shinfield Studios
Want to see intriguing images and cinematic sequences of Wokingham as it was in the 1970’s? Then this film is not to be missed. Mia Farrow and a youthful Paul Nicholas tread the streets of Wokingham in the suspense thriller, ‘See No Evil’ aka ‘Blind Terror’’
A unique charity gala screening of the movie will take place on:
Monday, November 11th 2024 at 7.45pm at The Whitty Theatre, Wokingham RG40 3EU.
The film was shot entirely in and around Wokingham in 1970 and released in 1971. Eagle eyed viewers will see glimpses of the old red brick Victorian railway station, a tantalising stroll down Denmark Street and a psychopath’s unnerving gaze from The Red Lion looking out onto Market Place and much, much more. A local Manor House in Binfield (opposite The Stag and Hounds) frames much of the action as Mia Farrow fights to elude a psychopathic stalker. The film, also features a young Paul Nicholas and will tantalise you with its locations as you recognise much of the backdrop to the action.
As well as offering a unique early 70’s insight into familiar Wokingham locations captured by director, Richard Fleischer, the film has been dubbed as ‘a perfect modern specimen of the A plus suspense programmer…superbly written…brilliantly photographed’. A crazed killer stalks his blind victim in sequences captured at the family home in Binfield.
All monies raised from this event will go towards Arts4Wokingham, a local charity seeking to promote and champion more public art across the Borough of Wokingham. A4W believes that public art should be for all.
This special fundraiser screening will be preceded by an illuminating introduction by John Gibbs, Professor of Film at the University of Reading.
Arts4Wokingham is thrilled that Shinfield Studios has offered to sponsor this screening. Trustee, Paddy Haycocks, said, ‘We share a passion and respect for film as a key part of the artistic spectrum. Shinfield Studios’ endorsement of this event will enable us to dedicate more of our funds to our primary aim of promoting and championing public art across the Borough. For the local community, it’s simply a win, win.’
Book Now
To make sure of a seat at this one-off event, bookings will open via www.ticketsource.co.uk/arts4wokingham at 10am on Monday 16th September.
Although there is no fixed charge, Arts4Wokingham is suggesting that purchasers make a £7.00 contribution for each seat required. Since this is a charity fundraiser, we are hoping that those attending might decide to add a few extra pounds as an additional donation and round up their purchases. Every few pounds counts towards A4W’s aim to bring more public art into the area.
